The company’s founder, a Chartered Insurance Broker, worked for Royal insurance from 1974 until he founded Carter and Co in Brixham in 1986. Paul is now responsible for Mergers and Acquisitions, I.T. and Compliance; he is also a director of our Financial Planning Company, Carter and Co Financial Planning Ltd.

Having chosen a career in Insurance Broking, on leaving school, Steve, worked for a large local broker based in Newton Abbot until starting his own brokerage in Bovey Tracey in 1988, S. P. Joint and Co, merged with Carter and Co in 1995 at which point Steve became a partner in the firm. Now Director of Broking Operations Steve is responsible for the management of both client and insurer relationships, sales and marketing, communications and staff training.

Judi has over 35 years experience in the insurance industry having started her career at Royal insurance in 1970, she is co founder of Carter and Co. and has responsibility for Credit control, Accounting, Pay roll and Staffing

In January 2004 Carter and Co were fortunate to be able to recruit Sarah from the Norwich Union, with 18 years experience in Commercial insurance underwriting Sarah brings huge experience to the broking team at our head office and is responsible for the day to day management of commercial client relationships, new business generation and the servicing of the existing client base.

We have a dedicated claims manager in Mrs Karen Pearce who manages all commercial claims to ensure that our clients receive the very best of attention when they need it most, Karen has 18 years experience working for General Accident, before moving to Carter and Co in 1999, and has built strong relationships with key members of insurers claims teams, loss adjusters and repair contractors.
